Dexter Season 2 Summary

The season premiere, ”It’s Alive”, brought 1.09 million viewers, making Dexter the first Showtime series to attract more than a million viewers with a season premiere. The season received universal acclaim from critics, and was praised as “one of the best shows on TV this decade” by the Chicago Sun-Times.

13 dismembered bodies are found in Bay Harbor, the Miami Metro police department starts a massive manhunt for a man the media calls “The Bay Harbor Butcher”. Dexter is very involved in the case, with the police and on his own, considering the bodies they found were of his victims. Sargent Doakes suspects that Dexter has a dark secret and follows him around. Mentally Dexter is distraught, he is trying to get the police and Doakes off his trail and also has to deal with his Father’s death, for which he believes he is to blame.

Dexter is more anxious than usual and Rita believes that he is on heroin and send him to a clinic, but eventually breaks up with him. At the clinic Dexter meets his sponsor Lila who sees him for who he really is, and forms a connection. Meanwhile, Debra struggles to recover after surviving Ice Truck Killer’s attempts to murder her, Dexter feels Debra is his responsibility.

Dexter’s secret is threatened to be revealed…

The Conclusion

Dexter and Lila get really close, but he realises that she is actually crazy he also realizes his love for Rita and her kids. Meanwhile Sargent Doakes figures out Dexter’s deep dark secret, the fact that he is “The Bay Harbor Butcher”. They get into a fight but Dexter eventually overpowers Doakes and locks him up. Dexter plans to frame Sargent Doakes as “The Bay Harbor Butcher” but since Doakes hasn’t committed any crime, he doesn’t deserve to be killed, instead he is kept locked in a deserted cabin. Lila trying to win back Dexter burns down the cabin in which Doakes was locked in. Lila is now on Dexter’s hit-list but before he could do anything, Lila kidnaps Rita’s kids, bring them back to her apartment and sets the apartment on fire. They narrowly escape and then Dexter finds her and kills her. Sergeant Doakes is officially listed as The Bay Harbor Butcher and his death is believed to be a suicide.

The second season of Dexter premiered on September 30, 2007, and ended on December 16, 2007. The season contains 12 episodes… Here is a trailer of the second season…
