Opening Credits

The editing is intense, with flamboyant transitions, tricks to amplify the intensity of violence, and creative methods of boosting the body count.

Pulp

A second-rate cage fighter on the mixed martial arts circuit, Luke Wright (Jason Statham) lives a numbing life of routine beatings and chump change, until the day he blows a rigged fight.Wanting to make an example of him, the Russian Mafia murders his wife and banishes him from his life forever, leaving Luke to wander the streets of New York destitute, haunted by guilt, and tormented by the knowledge that he will always be watched, he plans to commit suicide on his he spots 11-year-old Mei (Catherine Chan). She is being chased by the same people that killed his wife and he vows to protect Mei.

Luke Promises to protect Mei

“I never know what to say in these moments. The ones before I kill somebody.”

11-year-old Mei was abducted and forced to work for ruthless Chinese gangsters due to her extraordinary skills in memorization and mathematics. When Mei is given a numerical code to a safe containing 30 million dollars, the Triad, the Russian mafia, and corrupt New York officials all want her – dead or alive. Now with Luke on her side, he launches a full-scale war against the criminal leaders and their vast armies of merciless killers. He takes a huge risk and asks help from his old police rouge gang who had earlier disgraced him.

End Roll

Safe fulfils the expectations of modern thrillers with its breakneck pacing, over-the-top violence, and explosive action sequences. The brutal combat borders on the monotonous, but it also unflinchingly delivers what its audience wants to see, without stopping for development. While you’ll likely guess who wins each round of warfare, clever moments of pandemonium and self-reflective humour arise from the maelstrom to reveal the film’s slightly more insightful mind set on cathartic thrills. But then it’s right back to Jason Statham shoving a fork in someone’s throat.

Liam convinces his old team to fight with him

There’s plenty of chaos for the sake of spectacle, and although boomingly extravagant, it’s never augmented by the annoying shaky cam. The bad guys get it good and go through the obligatory merciless errands to deserve it. The climax is the highlight, with surprisingly unexpected bluster arising from the least likely route of commotion. Always aware of how generic action movies play out, Safe goes against the grain to deliver unique stunts, unpredictable showdowns, and unanticipated fun. It’s a brisk 94 minutes that keeps the punches coming – in a guilty pleasure, mindless action/adventure variety.

There’s a school for gifted children up in Seattle. It’s a nice drive… if you like trees and shit.

One thing that takes away from this film is the beginning of the movie. For the first 10-15 minutes, it’s very hard to follow exactly what is going on. I thought the writers tried too hard to have an opening scene that caught your attention, and they ended up putting too much stuff in that scene. Over all its good time pass, as Jason Statham enjoys being stereotyped, and why wouldn’t he… it works for him.

Perspective

Good movie, worth a watch.

Here is a look at the trailer…

Rating

Oshee’s rating: 3/5

MPAA Rating: Rated R for strong violence throughout, and for language.

Does the song “Pumped Up Kicks” ring a bell? As diverse listeners of music, we find ourselves singing (or humming) this catchy tune and not being able to get it out of our heads.

With more than 81.6 million hits on just the official music video, this song was Foster the People’s breakthrough hit into the music industry and one of the most remembered and played song of 2011.

Foster The People's Fink, Foster and Pontius (From left to right)

This L.A. Trio was founded in 2009 when Vocalist Mark Foster met Bassist Cubbie Fink and Drummer Mark Pontius, after his struggle as a musician for many years. After releasing “Torches“, their debut album, “Pumped Up Kicks” became a hit on radio stations all over the world, made it on all sorts of music charts such as Billboard, Adult Top 40 and Mainstream Top 40. This eventually lead them to receiving 2 Grammy nominations for the album and their song.

Foster The People's Debut Album "Torches"

All song lyrics are written by Foster, and some are with the help of award-winning songwriters. However, some songs are filled with moody, unusual and, conflicting and emotive lyrics that happen to have a lot of meaning behind them, making this album worthy of listening to.

All this has proven that music genres like indie-rock, alternative and psych- disco/pop can be successfully juggled to create an album like this one, guaranteeing you to listen to every song on this album with a different perspective.

Overall, I give this a 7/10. The music, lyrics and vocals blend in well to give us a very interesting album altogether.

Here’s the famous song from the band.. give it a listen..

Samsung invited Uthmag to their Middle East sneak preview of the Galaxy S3. Our previous article on the same phone laid down a perfect platform for the launch itself. And what a launch it was. The event itself eclipsed by the sheet brilliance of the super smartphone.

We were excited to hold the phone for the first time. The first thing that will hit you is its 133g weight. Despite its 4.8 inch AMOLED HD screen and the 2100Amh battery, the phone felt quite nimble and had a premium finish to it. You definitely HAVE to see the screen to believe its resolution. Imagine iPhone-like clarity but on a larger screen

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is definitely what the iPhone 5 should have been!

Performance wise, there was no visible lag in between transitions and apps loaded with relative ease. The Quad core Samsung Exynos chip does its job well. Samsung has managed to keep the ICS experience as clean as possible. Screen transitions and media playback is easily managed by the Quad-core 1.4 Ghz processor with its 1GB RAM.

The Galaxy S2 compared with the Galaxy S3

The 8mp camera does a very good job and its ‘best shot’ feature selects the best possible shot from a selection of 8 shots taken using the Burst-mode. Which brings me to the shutter lag – ZERO. Yes, you read that right! Absolutely no shutter lag in between shots and the focus is pretty quick as well. As in the HTC One X, you are able to capture still images while you are shooting a video in 1080p. And guess what, the ‘Social tag’ feature is so advanced that it can identify faces of your friends on pictures and tag them so the next time you open the picture you are able to easily call the person by clicking on their image on the photo.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Galaxy S2

We tried the S-Beam feature that helps wireless transfer of content form one Galaxy S3 to another. It was insanely quick! The ‘Pop-up’ feature allows you to multi-task while watching a video. Tap a button and voila, you can send a message with the video still playing in the foreground. Turn your phone face down while watching the video and it automatically pauses the video.

Direct Call – Lift your phone to your ear and the phone automatically çalls’ the person whose contact you were viewing. Smart Stay – The screen detects your eyeball movements and goes to sleep while you are not looking at the phone. One swipe of your hand across the screen to get a screenshot. Similarly, there are quite a array of features that Samsung want you to find out on your own.

AnTuTu benchmark figures show that the Galaxy S3 is faster than the ASUS Transformer Prime!

I am quite confident that the 2100 mAh will work wonders for the phone. Samsung has official claims that it will run for 10 hours with constant use. And to be honest, the battery drain has been quite slow all during the event and I can say it with confidence that the battery life is something that will ensure that the phone will run without any hiccups.

Battery will last you a cool 10 hours on full usage

The phone will retail at AED 2699/- for the 16GB and will be available in the UAE market in two weeks time. Currently, it will be sold in Marble White and Pebble Blue shades.

Samsung also showcased their official commercial for the Galaxy S3. Have a look.. We believe this is the best smartphone in the world currently, do you?

In the first half hour, we find Lily is in labour waiting for Marshall, who was duped by Lily to go to Atlantic City with Barney. As she waits she asks Ted and Robin to distract her with stories, this doesn’t go on for long as Lily is rushed to the hospital without Marshall.

Meanwhile in Atlantic City Barney and Marshall are both drunk and have difficulty getting a ride back to Manhattan. Barney decides that he would help Marshall get back to Manhattan as quickly as possible if he promises to keep his child’s middle name as “wait for it”. On agreeing to the deal Barney manages to hitch a ride with some elderly citizens however later they find that the bus is headed to Buffalo. Seeing the urgency of Marshall’s situation the elderly fake Heart attack and direct the bus driver to the hospital where Lily is giving birth.

Not being able to wait for Marshall any longer, Lily starts to give birth, only for Marshall to enter in the very last moment. The baby is named after Marshall’s father Marvin, also everyone agrees to Barney’s middle name to be the best ever, and the baby is called Marvin wait for it Eriksen.

In the second half hour, we return to the beginning of the season starting where the ‘The Best Man’ ended. As Ted goes to meet the bride, he meets Marshall in the Hallway and they discuss how everything has turned out.

After the birth of Marvin Ted and Robin are in good terms again, and they discuss the women Ted has been pursuing and how they have always been wrong for him apart from Victoria. Mustering some courage he calls her to meet him and find out where she stands in her relationships and she accepts to meet him at the MacLaren’s. As she arrives she is dressed in her wedding gown and asks Ted to run away with her. Though Ted is excited by the prospect he plans to do the right thing.

Meanwhile, Barney and Quinn are a couple again even after all the confusion the previous week and Barney not being too optimistic of them getting back together. Their holiday plan is back and track, however, Barney is stopped at airport security because of a mysterious box he has placed in his luggage, the contents of which he claims he cannot reveal due to “the Magician’s Code”. After a lot of interrogation, threatening to ruin their relationship again and when Barney finds out Quinn quit her job for him, Barney decides he would show them the trick.

Barney showing his Magic trick

Click for a Spoiler

The trick was a proposal for Quinn to marry him. Both being excited go to their friends to declare the news. Barney asks robin if she is happy with everything and she says yes. Fast forwarding to the corridor with Marshall, Ted leaves for the Bride, who happens to be Robin.

Can’t wait to see the next season, find out if there is more twists in the tale.

UthMag had the opportunity to get some answers to questions that his fans all over the world would be asking. Here is the interview!

HOW WOULD YOU SAY THINGS HAVE CHANGED FOR YOU BETWEEN THE RELEASE OF “ROKSTARR” AND NOW?

Ever since releasing “Rokstarr” it’s become considerably busier which is a good thing. I like it. I like to have work to do as opposed to having nothing to do. It’s great. There’s just been so many different territories, so many different countries that have been warm and warming to my music so it’s great to have been able to visit them and release my music there.

YOU’RE STARTING 2012 OFF IN A HUGE WAY WITH A BRAND NEW ALBUM, “TY.O” – WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THAT TITLE?

So, the title for my new album is “TY.O” and it’s simple, you know, it’s two reasons. One, I just wanted to have a very simple album title but at the same time a lot of people seem to get my name wrong. I get very many different variations. I get Tay-O a lot, that’s probably the most obvious on. But sometimes I get Tow-ai, I get Tow, I get Tee-O, I get millions and millions of different variations so this is just the phonetic pronunciation of my name. So, “TY,O”.

A lot of people seem to get my name wrong, I get very many different variations. I get Tay-O a lot,Tow-ai, I get Tow, I get Tee-O. So, “TY,O” (is the right way to say it) - Taio Cruz

YOU WORKED WITH SOME AMAZING NAMES ON “ROKSTARR” – WHO HAVE YOU WORKED WITH THIS TIME AROUND?

Yeah, well “Rokstarr” definitely was an album that had a lot of female features on so this album has a lot of male features on which I didn’t realise until I looked back at it, that all the features were male so we have David Guetta, we have Ludacris, Pitbull, Flo Rida. Who I love. So it’s very exciting, the songs are all very cool and catchy.

WHERE DID YOU FIND YOUR INSPIRATION THIS TIME AROUND?

I kind of pull inspirations from out of the air. I think I’m always inspired by everything so it comes to me without thinking about it, it comes in a very subconscious way. I don’t , like, specifically draw from something so it’s just everyday life and living and hanging out. It just comes out randomly.

You know Justin Bieber’s just a great singer as well as a great musician in such a young person who’s only growing and who’s only going to get better – Taio Cruz

YOU’VE CONTINUED TO WRITE SONGS FOR HUGE NAMES INCLUDING KYLIE, WILL YOUNG, JUSTIN BIEBER AND DAVID GUETTA – HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO WORK WITH?

I think that decision gets made for me, with these people’s talents, you know, all these artists are just so amazingly talented that I’m drawn to wanting to work with them because they’re so good. You know Justin Bieber’s just a great singer as well as a great musician in such a young person who’s only growing and who’s only going to get better. You know, working with all the great people he’s only now being allowed to work with and in a position to work with and the same with more seasoned people like the Black Eyed Peas, David Guetta, it’s just they’re such great musicians tht I always love to work with them.

WHO HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING WITH RECENTLY?

Well, most recently I haven’t been working with that many people because I was finishing my album so I was mainly working with Swedish House Mafia, Red One, David Guetta, but mainly for my record. Then we did a week with Cheryl Cole for her record and still coming up hopefully in January I’ll be working with Justin Bieber.

I was mainly working with Swedish House Mafia, Red One, David Guetta – Taio Cruz

FINALLY, YOU STARTED OUT WRITING AND MAKING MUSIC WHEN YOU WERE SO YOUNG – WAS THERE EVER ANY QUESTION THAT THIS WAS YOUR DESTINY?

No, I think I’ve always known that I was going to make music whether it even be for a living or not, but I was always going to make music regardless, even if it was a hobby and I had to get a job doing something else I think I would have made music regardless.

Both singles were taken from Taio’s last album ”The Rokstarr Collection”, a collection brimming with out and out pop nuggets, and a testament to the undisputed fact that pound for pound, Taio Cruz is in the very top drawer of guaranteed hit maker/ writer/artist/producers currently working in pop music.

His latest single “There She Goes” will premiere on Youtube/Vevo and Myvideo.de this Wednesday 16th May.

Well, would you look at that? Who would’ve ever thought the tussle for the trophy was going to boil down to last match! It has been a scintillating past couple of weeks in English Football. The tables have turned, most teams have settled where they already are and we are all in for a pulsating climax tonight, Sunday the 13th.

Rooney and the boys have a tough road ahead!

It all started with the heavily-hyped, top-of-the-table, title-deciding and clash-of-the-titans derby match between Manchester City and Manchester United.

Expectations weren’t belied, as fireworks went off at the Etihad Stadium with skipper Vincent Kompany firing a header past De Gea close to half time and securing a much-deserved victory. Despite Ji-Sung Park and Nani making way for the in-form forwards Welbeck and Young, the United offense couldn’t simply perturb City’s powerful home form. That’s when it was all-advantage Man City because of their goal-difference edge over United. Both teams still in the hunt, when they played Newcastle and Swansea respectively. City were under bigger strain against Champion’s League-aspiring Newcastle as opposed to a safe Swansea, who played Man United at Old Trafford. The Magpies (Newcastle) were also in very fine touch in the shape of Papiss Cisse, the man responsible for the famous away win at Chelsea. But City went nailed them heavily when Yaya-Toure went berserk in the second half with two fantabulous goals. Man United also found goals from Paul Scholes and Young to beat Swansea, but just not enough to surpass City owing to goal difference.

In the bid for a Champion’s League berth, Arsenal are fairly on safe grounds at the third spot of the table. But they’ve had a rough two weeks – drawing away at Stoke City and then another demoralizing draw at Emirates Stadium against Norwich City. Captain Robin van Persie was in his element as he brought back Arsenal from 2-1 down in the first half with a double-whammy that propelled him to the top of this season’s top scorers. With so much of apprehension and rumors about his possible transfer after today’s match, Wenger will want his premier striker for 2012-13 if he wishes to reproduce this fantastic result again.

Tottenham have done well to keep pressure on Newcastle for the fourth Champion League inroad. With their recent draw with Stoke City, they will look to keep the dice rolling and finish on top against Fulham today at home. Right below them, Newcastle couldn’t replicate their stunning show at Chelsea when Manchester City came to Sports Direct Arena. Because of their 2-0 loss to City, they have to win against a powerful Everton line-up and then hope that Tottenham draw/lose against Stoke, if they hope to make the top four.

Liverpool are out of the equation for both next season’s Champions and Europa Leagues, while Chelsea have to win the Champions League 2012 crown, if they are to contend in next year’s edition.

Meanwhile, today’s final match seems to host an assortment of tight and high-octane matches that will actually make a difference in the league table and title! Hope the best team wins! here’s a list of the upcoming matches.

So I play online sometimes, and I when I say sometimes I mean rarely. I’m more of a console gamer myself, but the occasional round of League of Legends gives me a little boost and I’ll admit, all the praise my brother keeps giving it got to me.

And so a few days ago, after avoiding the games for months and months, I decided I would play a round or two of League of Legends. I start it up and of course, as I haven’t opened it in eons, it was going to take a while to update. So I wait anxiously for it to update and goodness does it take a long time. However, the updating does finally come to a stop and I enter my virtual world of madness once more. I found myself wondering why I had quit playing to begin with. The heroes you can choose are all quite astonishing, all with unique powers and abilities, the items, all shiny and each one more interesting than the next, the skins, all very creative and all very impressive, the arenas, well thought out… So why was it that I stopped playing? This question was in the back of my mind while I entered the waiting room of my randomly selected teammates where I had to select my hero. I picked a hero that I remember selecting often, a sharp shooter named Caitlyn, quite the popular one just I remember her.

And there it we were, my teammates and I, about to wage war on the opposing team, with our minions along our sides, we were going to wipe them out and never look back… Then something occurred to me… “What were the controls again?” I spent about 5 precious minutes just trying to figure out how to move around and how to use my powers, locking the camera on my player was the most challenging task of all, and also the most embarrassing. After finally figuring out how to move around and play most of my teammates and the enemy players had leveled up their abilities and that meant it was almost impossible to face them. I ended up dying repeatedly and receiving insults from my team members, “Noob,” “NOOB TEAM,” “Going to SURRENDER,” which was what happened eventually.

To see the blood red “Defeat” sign so quickly and without putting up much of a fight was a slap right across my face.

I felt like I was falling down one of those clichéd abysses with flashbacks of how badly I had down throughout the game. I couldn’t even get the camera to work! I buried my head into my pillow and started, almost instinctively, shaking my head from side to side, as if my very soul was disappointed in me.

A Noob…

What have I become? How could I have let myself stoop so low… To be called a noob… To cause a whole team to surrender on my behalf, to have caused their statuses to be lowered, to cause them shame and disgrace… I am a noob… Let’s just say after that battle I realized why I had stopped playing League of Legends!

I could hear Captain Kirk in the back of my mind screaming “Khaaaaan!” and then it occurred to me… I “khan” change my ways! I can… that is

.

I can become a decent enough player, if I only tried. We all have to start somewhere don’t we? I mean, we didn’t all start off as professionals. So here I am typing in my password once again and this time I’m going in with my head held high… Well, high enough I suppose.

We’ve got to end discriminations against the newbie population, we may be at the bottom of the food chain, but all of you pros out there were one of us once. We ask you to remember where your roots lie, we ask you to nostalgically look back at your time spent upgrading your profiles and binging up your avatar, we ask you to have mercy on us pitiful creatures of the internet, for we only aspire to become one of you.

Noobs are people too you know. #JustSayin!

Howard, Dimitri Rezinov and Mike Massimino, are suited up on board the Soyuz capsule awaiting lift-off to the International Space Station. Howard, nervously waiting for the countdown begins to reflect back at his life, particularly the events of last couple of days.

As a romantic gesture Howard gives Bernadette a necklace with a star locket which he plans to take to his voyage in space and bring it back, thus being a star that’s been in space. Seeing this gesture Bernadette tells him that she wants to marry him before he goes to space. After consulting with their friends, they all go to the city hall to have the wedding. Unfortunately, there are many couples ahead of them and their turn doesn’t come.

Friends are upset as they aren't able to marry Howard and Bernadette at the city hall

Click for a Spoiler

Later at the Cheesecake Factory, Raj suggests they get married on the roof of Leonard, Sheldon and Penny’s apartment building on Sunday morning, which will coincide with Google’s satellite taking new photographs of their city of Pasadena, California. The five friends then get ordained as ministers over the internet in order to perform the marriage properly. Although the wedding ceremony is heavily improvised, and is constantly interrupted by Mrs. Wolowitz, as well as Leonard’s needling Penny over her rejection of his marriage proposal, it is a success.

Everyone nervously waiting Howard's launch

The episode ends with Howard being launched into orbit. Watching nervously, Bernadette takes Raj’s hand, Penny takes Leonard’s hand and a very surprised Amy has her hand taken by Sheldon who wishes Howard well with the words “Boldly go, Howard Wolowitz.”
