A ‘WKND’ with Ferry Corsten
One look inside the Du Forum and I just simply knew that this just wasn’t an ordinary night it was going to be night where trance heads assembled to rave to the tunes of Aly and Fila & Ferry Corsten. The party kicked off at 10pm to the tunes of UAE’s official DJ Mister Outlaw who spun some great soul and funk house tracks that kept the clubbers grooving. Playing tunes by Oliver$, Mark knight and the likes, Mister Outlaw really did a fantastic job of warming up the dance floor. There was great deal of socializing going on too. So far so good!
It was quite evident at about 11:30pm that the crowd was getting restless and for a good reason too, Egyptian Trance masters Aly and Fila took over the decks and blew everyone away with their uplifting trance tunes with barrage of pounding bass-lines and scintillating synth lines coupled with so called ”DROPS”. Track after track the energy just kept increasing and the vibes so positive that even the bartenders and security couldn’t help but jiggle a bit. Welcome to the world of Dance music.
Finally, at exactly 1am, the most awaited DJ for the night, the Pioneer of Trance, one of the forefathers of EDM had arrived. Yes. Ferry Corsten took over and then there was no stopping. With epilepsy inducing strobes, blinding lights and smoke filled dance floor, the setting was perfect. The clubbers were charged enough to welcome Ferry Corsten with a bang. Belting tune after tune, Ferry Corsten proved that his solo-act was not only a success but it was needed to satiate the thirst for trance in the UAE.
Ferry is a natural performer, not just limited to the decks; he interacted with the crowds, danced a little, encouraged them along with the way and did it with ease. There is little or no surprise that he is one of the top trance DJs in the world. Most of the tracks from his album W.K.N.D made their way to the dance floor with the crowds equally singing along to each and every one of them. Tracks like: Live Forever Ft. Aruna, Beautiful, Check It Out, Not Coming Down ft. Betsie Larkin and WKND simply charged the dance floors with positivity.
And then there were moments when the crowd just went absolute wild with Ferry Corsten playing dance floor favourites and remixes both personal and that of other artists such as Adagio for Strings by Tiesto, Spaceman by Hardwell, Calling by Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso , Digital Punk (Arty’s Remix) and his biggest tune yet – BRUTE in collaboration with Armin Van Buuren.
3am, I lost track of time, Ferry threw a huge “Thank You Abu Dhabi” message on his gigantic LED screen behind and I knew it was over although I wished for more. It was definitely an evening to remember and I could see the smile on everyone’s face. It was Epic or was it?
To everyone’s surprise Mister Outlaw got back to the stage and finished the evening on a high. So high that it was 30minutes of pure bliss and those who missed it will definitely regret it. The dance floor just sprung back with renewed energy. Mister Outlaw proves once again that he is a force to be reckoned with, playing club favourite tunes such as Levels by Avicii, Save the World by Sweish House Mafia Titanium by David Guetta, Insomnia by Faithless, In my Mind by Ivan Gough and Feenixpawl (Axwell mix) and Show Me Love by Robin S, the clubbers couldn’t have asked for a better ending.
In short, THEY CAME. THEY RAVED. WE DANCED.
