Kanye West’s Cruel Summer premieres at Cannes
ioneering artist Kayne West’s Cruel Summer debuted at Palm Beach, Cannes on the 23rd May 2012. Cruel Summer is a fusion of short film and art installation, inspired by the new G.O.O.D. music album “cruel summer” and created by West’s design organisation DONDA in surround vision – the 7 screen experience - for the eyes and ears unlike anything West had attempted before…
The film tells the tale of a blind princess in the Middle East who falls for a man and tries to help him through various challenges set by her parents so they can be together, as is tradition in the region. Lead Actress, Sarah A. was reported to have said: ”It is a bridge from the East. This represents the East in a more beautiful way – it shows the beauty of the region and how most of the region is.”
Previously Kayne West had directed his Music videos including 2010′s Runaway. Cruel Summer was open for public access for two days after the evening of the 23rd May 2012.
