Tyson and Williams face off .. for the World Championships for Arab Boxing-Dubai 2012
English heavyweight Boxer Danny Williams confirmed his attendance at the World Championships for Arab Boxing to be held at Dubai on January 21-22.
The famous English boxer set to face Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, but this time out of the ring as both of them will be the Top guests of honour at the Championships.
Williams caused one of the biggest upsets in boxing history with a fourth-round knockout of Mike Tyson in their heavyweight fight in Louisville.
The organizing committee explain that the contract that has been signed with Tyson is top secret, and the amount that most of media announced before is so much less that the actual amount he will get.
Held under the Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and organized by ‘Gold star’ with the Dubai Sports Council-backed Arab Boxing Championships it will feature 12 fights, of which 3 will be for amateurs and the remaining 9 will be for professional men and women boxers.
The championships, has already attracted top boxing champions from the: US, Iraq, Switzerland, Russia, Netherlands, France, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Surinam, Kuwait, Palestine, Spain, Colombia, Portugal, Turkey, Mauritania and hosts UAE.
The two-day boxing championship is sponsored by Dubai Festival city.
The arab boxing league was created in 1972 while The international Arab Boxing Association has been established in 1990 and is located in Paris.
According to the game’s regulations, competitors may use both hands & feet to attack counterparts. Points to be awarded as per types of strikes. That should be interesting.
