Michael Fassbender to act in new Assassin’s Creed movie
YES. The rumors are true. Ubisoft has finally listened to its fans and is working on an Assassin’s Creed movie. Sources such as Variety and IGN have confirmed that Ubisoft was currently negotiating with Sony Pictures to work on the award-winning game into a movie, then resulting in Ubisoft developing the project independently.
Previously, Ubisoft had worked on many projects with big names such as Mark Wahlberg in ‘Max Payne’, Dwayne Johnson in ‘Doom’ and Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘Prince Of Persia’, that were all received very well by gamers and movie fanatics.
Michael Fassbender, star of X-Men Origins and Prometheus, has been selected to play the role of a hooded figure (Altair) from the franchise. Of course, there are many hooded characters in the game such as Altaïr ibn-La’Ahad, Ezio Auditore da Firenze and most recently Connor Kenway from the upcoming game, Assassin’s Creed III, which will be released in October this year. The CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, Jean-Julien
Baronnet, told Variety in an interview that “Michael Fassbender was our first choice to play the franchise’s iconic hooded hero. He is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.” Fassbender is also co-producing the movie.
Assassin’s Creed is a very popular video game revolving Desmond Miles, a bartender who finds out that he descended from a line of elite assassins that have fought evil forces throughout history like the Crusaders, the Renaissance and most recently, during the American Revolution.
What do you guys think? Do you think Fassbender can pull this off and give us a perfect performance just like his role in Prometheus as David? Stay tuned to UthMag for more updates!
