Salvation for Metalheads as Metallica performed live at Yas Arena
Over 25000 metalheads had their prayers answered last night, when they got see, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Metallica perform live at a sold-out Yas Arena.
Proof!
The show, which to the surprise of many fans, started on time when Lars Ulrich started a drum solo that brought the house down, and was followed by the other members of the band namely James Hetfield, Kirk Hammet and Rob Trujilo starting with a heavy jam, which lead to powerful riffs of Creeping Death.
Despite the performance of only two and a half hours, Metallica satisfied the urge of most of their fans. The setlist for the night pre-dominantly featured songs from their earlier albums but also had some electrifying numbers from their most recent, Death Magnetic. The most notable songs from their performance of last night were Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters, One, Seek and Destroy, Master of Puppets and Cyanide. The band were also selling their official merchandise, which sold out, remarkably, half an hour into the show.
The crowd was in complete awe whilst Metallica played. James Hetfield could have had the crowd eat-out-of-his hand if he wanted, as this performance by the band was long – awaited and eagerly anticipated. The atmosphere in the crowd during the show was almost spiritual, a feeling of oneness could be sensed by all present. To them, nothing else mattered that night.
The band, who are on their Death Magnetic World tour which has been all over the Americas and Europe, gave their first ever performance in the Middle East last night en route to their shows in India, later this month.
Metallica who are celebrating 30-years of existence this year didn’t seem a day over 18 as they revved NONSTOP through the whole performance constantly interacting with the crowd making them feel like Rockstars. The goodfellas’ attitude baked with their powerful music made it a legendary night of Rock.
Well, it begs the question of what next. We have had Slash, Robert Plant, Korn and last night Metallica polishing off a reputable list of stars in the ever evolving music scene in the UAE. Who should come in next? Who can possibly top Metallica, who have kicked off the dust from an endangered metal scene? As we reel in the awe of last night’s performance and ponder about these questions here is a list of stars across the border of music genres hitting UAE this month:
