Catch-up with: The Big Bang theory – Season 1
We have all seen sitcoms that include a geeky / weird character trying to fit into a group of, let’s say, normal everyday people. The Big bang theory turns this concept around as they portray a young aspiring actress working at the cheese cake factory, Penny (Kaley Cuoco), representing the normal everyday people, trying to fit into a group of 4 Caltech Geniuses Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Sheldon (,Jim Parsons) Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar).
If you haven’t heard of The Big Bang theory.. you’re probably a Dinosaur… (Pun Intended).. But we want you to ‘Catch-up’ with what’s going on.. so here is a break down..
The main story that follows through the seasons is the Leonard and Penny Love story. Sheldon is the irritating roommate and the challenge of the group is to deal with his idiosyncrasies often leading to hysterical fallouts. Raj is characterized as the foreigner trying to understand the ways of the local people and unable to talk to women. Howard, Raj’s best Friend, is a sex crazed, 70s style dresser, living with his mother considered the funny guy in the group.
Much of the show focuses on science, particularly physics. The four main male characters frequently banter about scientific theories or news (notably around the start of the show), and make science-related jokes. He audience, however, is not expected to understand the theories, however if an intellectual person does happen to see this show, he will approve of the theories thanks to the supervision by David Saltzberg, a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of California.
Season 1
The lives of Leonard and Sheldon are about to change as Penny moves in to the apartment across the hall from theirs. Leonard almost immediately falls in love with Penny and being as forward as she is, and because she just got through a difficult relationship needs a shoulder to cry on, which Leonard provides. Leonard is seen doing Penny’s bidding and facing big bullies for her, he even swore to quit his geeky ways but seeing penny with another man soon changed his mind. Through all, they did have some moments but only in the finale Leonard mustered enough courage to ask Penny out after yet another failed relationship.
