A Weapon of Mass Destruction

The world is so coming to an end I tell you, that new kid on the singing block who is famous only because people don’t like her; the controversies happening on a daily basis in India (a.k.a random people going on hunger strikes trying to hold the government to ransom), the uprisings in the middle east or any other such issue.

This article isn’t about the guys who blew up the twin towers or those who attacked Mumbai on 26/11. Dude, those guys were obviously not overlooked. I am talking about more dangerous people – those people who are killing their own selves and so many others around them on a daily basis. And yet, under no law are they listed as criminals. And no one in this whole wide world has proposed to stop corporations from producing weapons of mass destruction that are used by these people on a daily basis. Freaky huh?

Well, I am referring to none other than those people who smoke. Yes, even you, if you do. There is nothing much I can say that hasn’t been already said about harmful effects of smoking because I am not some scientist or doctor or researcher. I am just another innocent victim. And hence I can only reiterate (or try to) what’s already been put across so many times. To be honest I dislike anyone who drinks alcohol, does drugs or smokes. But to be even more honest, I can still stand the alcoholics and junkies. And that’s because they are only killing themselves when they plunge into their poison. Whereas the smokers, as you all should know, kill others more than they kill themselves – pretty much like the terrorists. Many might like to argue with me on that, but hey, I didn’t make that up. Passive smoking is more dangerous and that is the fact. What makes it dangerous you ask? Here’s what – the smoke particles in the air are much smaller; than in the actual smoke inhaled by the smoker. This makes it easier for the passive smoke particles to penetrate deeper into the lungs.

I came across this on a random notice board once: “Your passion is smoking. The residue of your passion is smoke, which I am forced to inhale. I have a passion too. It’s drinking. Would you be okay if I peed all over your head and forced you to take in the residue of MY passion? I presume not. So keep that in mind, and avoid smoking in public”. Of course, as a non smoker, it would be easy for me to ask those who smoke to quit. But as a chocolate addict, I know exactly how hard quitting is. But the least you can do on your part is to make sure you don’t kill others while you’re on the journey to end your life. Otherwise, you are no better than a mass murderer. A terrorist.
