Season 3
As the geniuses return from their voyage Leonard finds out that Penny has feelings for him, meanwhile Sheldon finds out that the whole expedition was futile as the group faked the results so that Sheldon would stop acting like a dictator. They all make peace amongst themselves eventually. Leonard and Penny start dating which is also good news for Howard who calls up a pact made between him and Leonard years earlier to be hooked up with one of Leonard’s girlfriend’s friends, hence enter Bernadette, Howard’s love interest. Towards the end of the season Leonard’s premature “I Love you” causes the relationship to falls apart, this particularly irritates Sheldon who is reminded of his parents quarreling. As Leonard and Penny take care of Sheldon they agree that they can still be friends. The finale is an interesting one as Raj and Howard as a joke stumble upon Sheldon’s ideal mate from an online dating site.

Note: Sheldon harbors resentment for Wil Wheaton for not attending a Sci-Fi convention when he was young; Raj begins to work with Sheldon; Leonard’s experiment goes wrong and Sheldon saves everyone by disposing the experiment in the elevator causing it to blast out of order, which is also the reason Leonard respects Sheldon.
Recurring characters introduced: Wil Wheaton as himself; Melissa Rauch as Bernadette (Penny’s friend Howard’s love interest); Mayim Bialik as Amy Farrah Fowler, Sheldon’s “ideal” mate; Brian Thomas Smith as Zack Johnson (on and off partner in season 4).
